Omowaleola is from Southwestern Nigeria and has worked in the Nigerian Private and Public Sector before coming to University. She received her HND in Computer Science at Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun state in 2016 before going to work for the IT department of the University College Hospital Ibadan Oyo state. The Hospital supported Omo to go back to University to achieve first her BSC in Computer Science from the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti.

In 2023 Omowaleola was accepted to study Project Management at the University of the West of Scotland where she was actively involved in the project management society as its Vice-President. Her volunteering for the society was recognised later that year when she received a Volunteering Recognition Award from UWS. Whilst volunteering, Omowaleola became involved in the Students Union, which led to her standing in the Presidential Election of 2024, which she won – receiving more votes than any other President in the Union’s history.

Since taking office, she has honed her skills in problem solving, stakeholder engagement and effective communication. She has taken a lead role in the implementation of the Union’s democracy review by gathering feedback from students and working to further develop the proposals. Omowaleola enjoys cooking, shopping and reading, and looks forward to meeting as many students as possible. .

Hailing from the vibrant southern region of Nigeria, Timiebi Oyinpere is an International Student, who brings a unique blend of cultural richness and academic excellence to his role as Student Vice President for Education at the University of the West of Scotland. Currently pursuing his MSc in Project Management, Timiebi's journey is a testament to his commitment to personal growth and community development. Timiebi's academic pursuits are complemented by his passion for student advocacy. His ascent to the position of Student Vice President for Education was preceded by valuable experiences as a Course Representative and Student Buddy, roles that honed his leadership skills and deepened his understanding of student needs. This is not just a personal achievement but a promise of dedication to every student he represents. At the heart of Timiebi's vision lie three pivotal areas: Enhancing Learning, Reimagining Campus Life, and Amplifying the Student Voice. These pillars form the foundation of his manifesto, reflecting his dedication to creating a more inclusive, engaging, and empowering educational environment. Timiebi's approach to leadership is guided by his core values of Humility, Genuineness, and Harmony. These principles not only shape his interactions with fellow students but also inform his decision-making process, ensuring that every initiative he undertakes is rooted in authenticity and collective well-being.

Current Role: Vice President of Welfare and Wellbeing focused on supporting student health and wellbeing. Previous Education: Master’s in public health, with a strong foundation in health advocacy and support. Undergraduate Degree: Graduated in Radiography, with experience working in Diagnostic Radiography. Certification: HCPC Certified in Radiography. Council of Allied Health Sciences Pakistan Skills & Hobbies: Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator; passionate about photo and videography.

Professor Roddy Williamson is a retired Neuroscientist who has held academic posts in Germany, Switzerland, USA, Japan and the UK.   As a senior academic, he was Dean of Science and subsequently Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Plymouth, before joining the University of the West of Scotland as Executive Dean and later Vice Principal. He has served on National Committees, Research Council Panels, Professional Bodies, and as Trustee for both charitable and not-for-profit organisations. Roddy hails from Ayrshire and is married with 4 children.

Mekaela Price works in the tech industry, specialising in sustainability technologies with a current focus on satellite imagery and AI to address climate change. Originally from South London, she holds a degree in Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a Master of Laws from Roehampton University. Her previous work has taken her to the Middle East, where she supported leading mining companies in becoming more transparent about their environmental impact. Mekaela is deeply passionate about leveraging technology to drive meaningful and lasting positive change and looks forward to applying her transferable skills to create a positive impact at the University of the West of Scotland Students’ Union as an External Trustee.

I have been involved in operations management for a good number of years. However, for some time, there has been a desire to complement my experiential knowledge with degree studies and hence my journey at UWS within the GA programme. I am married, with two grown up children who have been through the university path and are now of independent means. It is an honour to be serving you as a trustee and I will perform the role with the greatest of integrity.

Paul Asare is pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of the West of Scotland. With a background in project management, statistics, actuarial science, and evaluation, he has made significant contributions as a Budget Analyst, Project Coordinator, and Cadre Member. He is committed to representing and advocating for his fellow students as a Student Trustee and Acting President of the Ghana Student Union Association at UWS. Paul is from Ghana.

Hi all, my name is Aaron Sweeney and I am a 3rd year BAcc Accounting student here at UWS. I recently completed a corporate finance placement year working at Hilton Worldwide Ltd in their fast-paced finance department in Glasgow within their Process to Pay department, from this I have secured a part time job working as Financial Process to Pay Analyst alongside my studies.

I have previous experience as a Trustee, serving as a board member at one of South Lanarkshire’s leading mental health charity’s at 17 years old, for my dedication and work to improve mental health in young people and raise awareness to stop the stigma around mental health, I was awarded VASLAN’s Young Volunteer of the Year Award in 2021 and was nominated for a Sunday Mail Young Scot Award. I am a scholarship recipient at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland’s Foundation also known as the ICAS Foundation which is awarded to young people with high academic potential from low economic backgrounds to enter a career in accountancy. I am a motivated, hardworking, and kind young person and I look forward to serving students and the wider UWS community as a Student Trustee here at UWS Student Union.
