Tax exempt purchases available to students

    Rejected
Many retailers and digital/online stores only offer students discounts of 20% granted that the purchase is made through the universities finance department, as they can claim back 20% for themselves due to being registered as a charity, creating tax exemption. Students should therefore be able to purchase any items through the university which offer an educational discount (for example, GuitarGuitar in Glasgow, discounts from which could aid Music Technology and BA Performance students) to those studying within the university

Why you think it is important

This will help low-income or financially restricted students save a larger discount on purchases made through the university as they are able to claim 20% VAT back.

Is there anything else you think we should know?

Some stores such as GuitarGuitar in Glasgow offer this and have confirmed with me they are open to establishing a link with UWS to offer this
