    Student Rep Support

    Passed
I would like to propose a policy for Student Rep support. I am the president of the UWS Rep Society and we have created the foundations of something that can be highly beneficial to be promoted on every campus.

Why you think it is important

In previous years, a lead rep role has been offered though sparsq. It would be good if this could be exchanged as the promotion to lead a Student Rep Society. There are many boxes ticked for bridging connections between staff, students and reps. Some of the things we offer in UWS Rep Society (Paisley) are as follows - Points to Consider · Lack in student engagement for reps from students · Isolation through perceived hierarchy · Lack in confidence · Lack in participation · ‘just for the CV’ · Reps not relaying information to students What can be Offered · Support · Advice · Networking · Problem-solving · Internal advancement (minor achievements) · Learn about events, opportunities and additional training (such as Co-chair) And much more such as government funded training opportunities, drop-in sessions for students, and guest speakers from staff, societies and external sources.

Is there anything else you think we should know?

As well as promotion of the President Student Rep Society role, each elected rep should made aware of the possibility of a Rep Society and signposting should be in place for ones in existence.

I have read the guidance on what makes a good policy on the student council page
