Policy Lapse - Gym funding should not fall

    Passed
The Students' Association welcomes the University's decision to make the gyms free for students, but calls on the University to ensure that the funding previously provided by student fees is replaced.

Why you think it is important

Students who are healthier and fitter perform better academically. (Ansari, Stock 2010) The University has lead the way in making fitness free for students. It is important that the University ensures that the sports facilities themselves remain healthy. I am told that last year student fee income amounted to around £30k.

Is there anything else you think we should know?

The opening hours of the new Paisley gym are restricted compared to Lanarkshire. By boosting funding we can ensure equality where possible across all campuses.
