Find out what Students' Union policies have been passed by students, and more importantly, what is being done about them.

Here you can find a list of all the policies which have been passed by student council. We're working on a live tracker so you can check the progress of each policy, but until we've got that up and running please contact your student president team to ask for an update on policies. You can also check out current ideas and rejected ideas.

Let our voice be heard at NUS

    Passed
The Students' Union must elect delegates to NUS Conferences with sufficient time for delegates to fully participate, i.e. at the same time as student reps are elected towards the start of the academic year.

Why you think it is important

This year it has been really tough to participate in NUS Scotland Conference because delegates were only elected less than 5 days before the start of conference. As a result, we missed out on: 1. Submitting policy with the confidence that we'd be able to attend to defend it. 2. Being able to vote in the priority ballots. 3. Entering the Pet of the Year competition. 4. Being able to manage our time efficiently with regards to missing classes and catching up on work. This made conference feel very lonely as all the other delegates had been participating via the various online votes for several weeks before conference, but UWS students hadn't been able to.

Is there anything else you think we should know?

Most student unions select their delegates several weeks or months before conference, for example Stirling SU elects their delegates in October. There is no reason why we couldn't do this at UWS, especially given the way we elected student reps in October this year. UWS could elect NUS delegates at the same time as student rep elections from now on to ensure students aren't missing out on the full conference experience.
