Passed Policies and Progress

Find out what Students' Union policies have been passed by students, and more importantly, what is being done about them.

Here you can find a list of all the policies which have been passed by student council. We're working on a live tracker so you can check the progress of each policy, but until we've got that up and running please contact your student president team to ask for an update on policies. You can also check out current ideas and rejected ideas.

Making all our policies more accessible

    Passed
All active student policies should be easily accessible on the UWS Union website on a dedicated page. An up-to-date copy of the Policy Action Log must be available on this page and must be updated no less than 2 weeks prior to a Student Council meeting.

Why you think it is important

It's really important that all policies pertaining to student members are easily accessible to all student members. This will help ensure these policies are being acted upon, and will help improve the accountability and transparency of the Union.

Is there anything else you think we should know?

The Policy Action Log available on the website at present only covers policy discussed by Student Council in the 2019 calendar year.

9:27pm on 9 Jan 21 Hi Gordon, it's worth noting that this document was not uploaded at the point at which the policy was written. The key part of this policy is that it mandates that the log is updates regularly before council, as prior to this week it had not been (to my knowledge) updated for about 12 months. It's also worth noting that not all policies pertaining to student members are those which are passed at student council - a key example of such a policy is the "safe space policy", which is not currently easily accessible on the website.

1:49pm on 10 Jan 21 Ellie, my post was for information, not in opposition to the policy. I had been in contact with Sabina as I was trying to trawl through all existing council policy via checking the minutes of every previous council meeting and it was tedious in the extreme.
