ROLE DESCRIPTION
The best thing about volunteering is that YOU can choose to do as little or as much as you want. We have a variety of volunteering roles in which you can utilise your own skills and experience to help others and make a difference in your local community.
Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do at Roar, and we really can’t thank them enough.
We are currently looking for volunteers to become a Befriender to an older adult who is isolated in their own home. Over the last year in particular, many older adults have become isolated at home and are now not leaving their house for many reasons. Our Befriending Service provides an essential social connection and offers a lifeline to many older adults in Renfrewshire.
If you are 16 or over and want to make a real difference in your community, we would love to hear from you. All our projects need volunteers and there is no upper age limit. For all our volunteers, training is provided, and expenses are paid.
ABOUT THIS ORGANISATION
At Roar Connections For Life, our goal is to empower older adults through mental well-being and physical ability, so they can stay active, independent and in-charge! We run a variety of local services including Befriending, Stay Mobile Stay Connected (Frailty Prevention) Digital Support and Roar Do Feet (toenail trimming).
Visit our website for more information: https://www.roarforlife.org/
WHAT COULD YOU GAIN?
This voluntary opportunity will provide you with full training and support and will be a chance to gain skills and experience that can benefit both your personal and professional life. The skills gained would be invaluable for any future job applications.
You could learn so much about life in general just talking to an older adult for even an hour a week, and you really could change their life with just a little company.
