Befriending tasks:
The Project are working within Government and Youth Scotland Covid-19 guidelines. The majority of outings are taking place outdoors, with indoor outings limited to those that have been risk assessed. Volunteers are supplied with face mask and hand sanitizer by the Project.
South Ayrshire Befriending Project (SABP) is a small locally run charity based in Ayr, which was established in 1996 and supports vulnerable young people across South Ayrshire (aged 8 – 18), providing them with 1:1 befriending relationships, helping to build confidence and self-esteem and access activities in the community or develop a particular interest.
All of the young people referred to SABP have limited opportunities and face extreme difficulties in their lives. For the majority this will result in low confidence and self-esteem which will prevent them from reaching their full potential and contributing positively within their own homes, school or local communities.
SABP’s main outcome is to reduce this social isolation and increase the young people’s self- esteem and confidence, enabling them to make positive choices and participate successfully in their social and educational communities.
