ROLE DESCRIPTION

Looking students who would be interested in voluntary or paid opportunities at our Christmas Grotto in St Enoch centre. We will be the only grotto in the city, and all profits from the event would go straight to us, supporting our Free Football For All programmes. Volunteers are greatly needed for general activities, and we have paid ‘elf’ roles assisting Santa in his grotto (giving out presents, taking photos with the children, etc). PVG’s and elf accessories will be provided. This could be a great opportunity for arts students or those looking to enhance their CV. General activities involve taking donations (card/cash), checking tickets, and general crowd management. This will be a very fun opportunity with an important cause at the heart of it. Elf activities involve assisting Santa, giving out presents to the children, taking selfies, etc – requirement to stay in character.

ABOUT THIS ORGANISATION

Street Soccer is a charity which supports socially disadvantaged people across Scotland with football-themed activity and personal development. This year we mark our 15th anniversary and celebrate having helped change the lives of more than 25,000 people experiencing homelessness, unemployment, mental health and wellbeing issues, and other complex social challenges. We have sessions all over Scotland, with new locations being established frequently – there are plenty of sessions close to UWS campuses for students who may need us.

WHAT COULD YOU GAIN?

Volunteers will gain volunteering experience which can enhance CV’s and introduce students to more opportunities. They will get to know how our charity works, essential partnership activities, and a crash course in fundraising.

Paid ‘elf’ actors will be paid the living wage for the extra responsibility of staying in character when working with children. PVG’s and accessories will be provided. This will also be a great CV enhancing opportunity.
