We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help us run our charity shop. Our shops are an important part of how we raise the funds we need to support our patients, and if you love meeting new people or want to gain new skills and confidence we would love to hear from you.
You will be helping us with all aspects of running our charity shop, but your main tasks will include helping us to sort through donations, serving customers on the till and helping us to keep our shop looking lovely so our customers want to come in and browse.
Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. We’ve been carrying out this vital work for over 65 years – last year alone we cared for over 40,000 people across the UK. We can’t do what we do without our supporters, only you can make sure we can continue caring for people living with a terminal illness across the UK.
Volunteers will be working with our friendly and supportive retail team, and will be able to develop their organisational, customer service and other skills relevant to a career in retail or business. This is also a great role if you would like to gain some confidence in an environment where you are supported by a great team.

We will give you full training when you join us, so we don’t require any previous retail or customer service experience. Our ideal volunteer will have a friendly and cheerful manner and will be able to work well with others. The ability to follow instructions and carry out tasks within agreed time frames will be important. If you have an interest in fashion or a knowledge of popular and good quality brands then this will be useful but is not essential.
Volunteers will need to register with us online.
We will need the details of two people who can provide you with a reference, please let them know we will be in touch as this will speed up the registration process. Once we have a reply from your referees our shop manager will be in touch with you to arrange a time for you to meet us.
