Any requirements?
Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA) are looking to expand our team of Volunteer Telephone Befrienders. Our team provide a listening ear and friendly conversation to those who are not set to see the end of loneliness as lockdown eases.
A PVG for vulnerable adults would be required - if you do not have a current one, we will arrange that for you (Note: Having a criminal conviction does not stop you from applying). Befrienders use their own phones (following safeguarding guidelines), call from their own homes (or our offices if preferred) and are reimbursed for each call made.
South Ayrshire Lifeline offer a variety of services to elderly and / or vulnerable people across South Ayrshire. This includes telephone befriending and delivery of hearing aid batteries and sensory packs.
This opportunity is a great way to build up a portfolio of experience and training. In addition, telephone befriending makes a huge difference to the befriendee – often your call can be the only conversation they have that week. It can change their entire world.

Communication skills are vital. In addition, telephone befrienders must be reliable.
